Writer | UX Designer | Content Strategist

Everything is a story.

My story

As a writer, content strategist, information architect, and UX designer with over a decade of experience, content is my happy place and I love using it to create engaging experiences.

I have a Nielsen Norman UX certification and multiple design thinking credentials from IBM, where I led the content strategy of the Carbon Design System, Carbon for IBM.com Design System, and Partner Ecosystem for several years.

I’m a design system advocate and incurable organizer—in my element when creating order out of chaos and creating simple and easily-repeatable solutions.

When I’m not writing and designing online, I’m renovating the physical spaces around me—both interiors and gardens.

Take a look at my portfolio to see how I work and what I’ve done.

  • Styling strategies using typography

Carbon uses type tokens to manage typography, and these tokens sit within two type sets: productive and expressive. These type sets support a full range of user needs and activities across product and web pages.

By looking at the respective design rationales for each experience, we'll see where it makes sense to provide a blend.

  • Carbon's new information architecture

We’ve made it easier to find the things you need to design and build products efficiently and at speed.

We want to move beyond a library of assets to a design system that is easy for newcomers to Carbon to get up and running, while also helping return users with day-to-day designing and developing activities.

  • Seven new UX patterns for Carbon

A design system should be more than a library of tools and components. To build great applications, designers and developers also need strong, validated, and comprehensive guidance as a foundation. The way our users use a design system stretches beyond the assembly of pieces and the Carbon team is always working to make consistent experiences easier to build.
